To lose weight fast seems to be what lots of people want. Many people seem to carry their excess weight for months or years or their whole lives in many cases and then they make the decision to lose weight and they want all this weight to be gone immediately.

Unfortunately, diets for quick weight loss are very popular with people who do not understand the damage that they can do. Crash diets, fad diets, all those diet plans out there that promise quick weight loss; all they are going to cause you is to have a lowered metabolism and will in fact cause you to put weight on quicker and easier. You may see some results with these diets but it is mostly your body expelling water. Any weight that you may lose will be regained and more besides as soon as you end your diet, and end your diet you must because you cannot sustain yourself for long with an eating program where you are literally starving yourself.

Drastically cutting calories lowers your metabolic rate and prevents your body from obtaining the nutrients and vitamins that it so vitally needs to survive.

Skipping meals is something that people think will help them to lose weight. Breakfast in particular seem to be a popular one to skip. What this will do is lower your blood sugar levels, make you feel lethargic and possibly give you a headache. Furthermore, it will slow your metabolism and cause you to be extremely hungry so that when lunch time comes around you are likely to overeat.

A high metabolism burns calories. You can help to maintain a high metabolism by eating small meals every 2 or 3 hours and also keeping active. The food must be good healthy food of course not just pies and cakes. By eating in this way you will not feel hungry and you will have the energy to get through each day. On top of this, you will have the inclination to continue eating in this way because it feels good. It is not dieting, this is a healthy eating plan and it is the way you should eat in the future and not merely something that you do for a month or two before returning to the ice cream tub and the cookie jar.

Exercise is a vital part of life for everybody and not just those trying to lose a few pounds. Exercise has to be a part of your normal everyday life. There is no getting away from it, if you want a healthy body and a healthy heart, then you need daily exercise. So make it something that you like and make it fun. There is plenty of choice out there of things to do to exercise and as you improve and lose weight it will become more enjoyable.

At meal times look at your plate and divide it into half. One half should be for fruit and vegetables and the other half should be divided again into two. Of this half, one part is for carbohydrates which will preferably be whole grains and the other part will be lean protein. This is a simple way of ensuring that you get the correct balance of portion size and all the required food groups.

Use a calorie book to work out what your calorie intake is at the moment and then cut that by 500 calories per day to give you a 1lb weekly loss. Double that for 2lb. Do not aim for more than this. This is a good healthy and sustainable level of weight loss.

It may take you 10 months to become 20 lb heavier as it creeps on without you noticing, so if you lose 2lb every week that means that you will lose that 20 lb in only 10 weeks.
So if it takes 40 weeks to put on and 10 weeks to take off, is that not fast weight loss?
That is how to lose weight fast in a healthy way.
What is more, that is weight that is going to stay off. That is permanent weight loss.
